Basic naturalist tools are wonderful. We encourage students to have their own journals in the classroom, labeled with their name. Have the students work on their journals before and after the CT event. Before hand they should record basic scientific information about the day such as weather patterns, time of day, season, temperature, moisture content and cloud coverage. They could then write the topic down and one question they hope to find the answer to that day. After the event, give your students time to journal again through words or drawings. Besides journals, field guides are wonderful to have in the classroom. We can give you a recommended list. We also suggest clipboards, small rulers or measuring tapes, some type of sit-upons (a cushion or plastic stool for when the ground is wet or muddy. Let us know if you need suggestions!), digital or flip cameras for technology recordings, a class set of binoculars and someplace in your room where students can display their treasures and discoveries as their own naturalist museum so the learning can continue inside. A bulletin board to display journal entries and drawings is always enjoyed by students and parents alike.

-Mother told us:
"Recently our son toured on bicycle... Because he had your training and your personal example of integrity, I did not worry about him (mostly!). Thank you and please know how important your work is in this world of technological "sophistication"."
